Volunteer Work
Architects Without Borders

AWBS works in collaboration with Facing Homelessness to bring safe and dignified housing to people experiencing homelessness in the City of Seattle. BLOCK host families provide backyard homes as a compassionate and collaborative solution for a person experiencing homelessness. It has been rewarding to be a part of this local project for the past couple years as a project lead. Our job is to measure and draw up site plans for permitting from the City of Seattle for the backyard cottages.

I've also done a lot of fun projects with AWB-Seattle over the years for the Seattle Design Festival. From the Raise the Roost Competition to the Get Gardening competition where 1AD Studio won the People's Choice Award for the Spool Stack! Using all recycled materials, a very low cost, space saving vertical garden was built.

AWB-Seattle Project Leads and volunteers, Facing Homelessness and host families all came together at the Gates Foundation to present the BLOCK Project at the 2018 Seattle Design Festival where the theme was [Im]balance: Responding to Inequity by Building Compassionate Communities.
